PRE-KINDERGARTEN GOALS

Dear Parent,

Below are some general goals for our Pre-Kindergarten program. Our weekly units will include: math, language arts, science, social studies, health, art, music, gross-motor activities, fine-motor activities, dramatic-play activities, story time and a scholastic newspaper. We will celebrate with special theme parties, invited special guest, planned field trips and monthly visits to the Library. We plan a special Grandparent's Day in the Fall and a Parent program in May. We offer Tumbling, Dance lessons and School pictures.

Our weekly activities will be done individually, in small groups, or in a whole group setting. Our curriculum allows children both free choice and guided exploration. We create a week filled with learning, discovery and fun!

I will learn to recognize the shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle and oval)

I will learn colors
I will say the ABCs
I will learn to recognize numbers one through ten
I will learn to recognize opposites
I will learn my address and phone number
I will learn to sequence story pictures
I will learn to recognize letters Aa through Zz
I will learn to recognize beginning consonants and their sounds **
I will learn to count objects one through ten
I will learn to use scissors
I will learn to use crayons, glue, paint and other art media
I will learn to say the Pledge of Allegiance
I will learn the calendar (day, month and year)
I will learn to share
I will learn to be a good friend
I will learn to be a good listener
I will learn about Social events

**Not all children will be able to accomplish this goal

KINDERGARTEN GOALS

I can recognize and write my name

I can recognize the colors (red, yellow, blue, orange, green, purple, brown & black)

I can say the ABCs (not just sing the alphabet song)
I can recognize the vowels and their short sounds (Aa=apple, Ee=egg, Ii=Indian, Oo=Octopus, Uu=umbrella)

I will learn about spiders

I can recognize rhyming words

I can write my first name using a capital first letter and lower case letters for the rest.
I can recognize the consonants and their sounds (Pp=paint, Ss=sock, Tt=tent, Gg=gift, Cc=cap, Hh=hen)

I will learn about Veterans Day
